Where do vegetarian eggs come from? How can you tell the difference between the two?
Shay asked:
What is in a vegetarian egg? I thought that vegetarians do not eat anything that once was living. Why cant vegetarian eat regular eggs?

well, it depends on what the vegetarian is. Some eat dairy and egg while others don’t. it’s a person choice. Mostly one who does eat eggs pick those of free-range and cage-free chickens who have not been injected with hormones.

A vegetarian egg comes from chickens that are fed vegetarian diets.
Eggs were never alive..they are unfertilized.

As far as vegetarian eggs, I have not heard that term before. Perhaps it is a marketing term used by the company producing the eggs.
Usually a vegetarian does not eat products that result from the death of an animal. Therefore, stuff produced from an animal, like eggs or milk, are sometimes eaten by vegetarians. Another term is ovo-vegetarian, lacto-vegetarian, or ovo-lacto vegetarian for those vegetarians who eat eggs, dairy, or dairy and eggs respectively.
Rennet (used to make cheese) comes from the lining of a baby cow’s stomach, so some vegetarians look for cheese made without rennet.
