What are some vegetarian food/ food products for the atkins diet?

Sammy asked:

For breakfast I’ll have an egg white omelet with reduced fat provolone cheese. I also snack on stuff like tofurkey and smart bacon. If anyone could recommend other vegetarian foods or food products that are high in protein and have minimal fat and carbs, that would be very helpful as I struggle to find meal options aside form the obvious tofu.

Dr. Atkins, his wife, and the Atkins money machine produced a diet program that fails for the vast majority of people over a period of five years. (Gina Kolata “Rethinking Thin”) In addition, the most reputable nutrition experts I know have criticized the program as being unsustainable and dangerous because of the extended state of ketosis induced by this program. (Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Joel Fuhrman)

The biochemist researchers I trust all endorse a whole plant based diet. (T. Colin Campbell and Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr. “Forks Over Knives” includes hundreds of scientific references in their book. DVD is supposed to be good also.)

You should shun refined carbohydrates, however, complex carbohydrates are critical for health. There is no reason to go high protein, but if you want to do this, stress the following:

+ Leafy Green Vegetables – Kale and Collards raw, in smoothie, and cooked.
+ Legumes – Peas and beans (sprouted and cooked). Some nuts, but not too much.
+ Whole grains – Not processed. Not bread, instant oat meal, or cereal. Eat unprocessed non-gluten.

You also need fruit and colorful vegetables. Make sure you have Omega-3 by crushing and eating flax seed. Some people need B12 and D supplements as well.

You should not eat the following foods that you listed:

x Egg whites – Excess animal proteins are dangerous.
x Provolone Cheese – Even reduced fat cheese is too high in fat. The cholesterol is way too high. Cheese consumption and dairy consumption is correlated with ****** cancer and prostate cancer.
x Tofurky – Way too high in oils and refined ingredients. Soy can be genetically modified.
x Smart Bacon – High in oils and refined ingredients.
x Tofu – Soy has hormone effects. Other beans are far more delicious.

Professor Emeritus T. Colin Campbell documented the dangers associated with cheese and other dairy products through his long-term peer reviewed study supported by Oxford, Cornell, and the Chinese government. He concluded that consumption of dairy products (cheese, milk, whey and so on) was strongly correlated with many cancers. Dairy is totally unnecessary for health. Excess animal proteins are dangerous to humans.

Hold on, are you actually ON Atkins. There is no low-fat version of Atkins, If you take away fat, the diet will not work. If you try to get all your protein from veggies you’ll overshoot your carbs. Veggies are limited on Atkins. I suggest you get the book and read it. You obviously don’t understand how the Atkins diet works. Atkins is a HIGH Protein, HIGH Fat diet.
