Vegetarian?
halliemarie asked:
My boyfriend wants to become a vegetarian and I would like to do it with him, only I eat alot of meat. Are there any transition foods or recipes that would lessen my want for meat that are very tasty yet not bland like most veggies seem to be? Suggestions???????

I’m in transition at the moment, to be vegetarian. The biggest thing that will hit you are the cravings, trust me, so unless you have tremendous willpower or a very justifiable reason you’re passionate about that’d help you stay on track, chances are you’d be sneaking a lot of guilty sneak bites at meat dishes.
Try to cut off red meat first. Stick to white meat, meaning fish and chicken. There are plenty of delicious recipes for that.
Set a date for turning veg. As you go nearer that date, turn some days into vegetarian days, like for eating only vegetarian food, and slowly, turn your whole week vegetarian with only one meat day.
Slowly cut that off too.
Well, the best thing about going veg is probably how you’re going to get really ingenius and creative with cooking and I look forward to that.
If you’ve got a red meat dish you really love, why not in your transition stage convert the whole dish into chicken or fish? Meaning use all the same ingredients (cept’ the meat of course) and cook it in the exact same way you’d do with your red meat dish?
In my opinion, western vegetarian dishes are pretty bland. This is because many western dishes are very meat-based, with the salad on the side as the veggie accompaniment.
The best time for you to get inventive, explorative is now!
Try out Indian cuisine. Hindu Indians are vegetarians, and thus those thousands of years passed with them churning out a whole array of vegetarian dishes that have probably officially classified them into a cuisine in itself!
There are so many to start, try vegetarian Mediterrinaean food.
Lots of olive oil with grilled eggplant, couscous, sun-dried tomatoes, stewed potatoes with sage, garlic and olive oil.
For indian vegetarian dishes,
one of my favourites is aloo bhaigan (potato and eggplant curry) with aloo paratha (potato stuffed flatbread, or roti) on the side as the carbo.
Or, try to cook a sumptuous vegetarian biryani, trust me, it will taste so good meat wouldn’t even cross your mind.
The recipes I get for Indian food is here :
It’s as authentic as Indian veg can get!
One of my fave med dishes go below.
Mediterranean Stuffed Eggplant:
FALAFEL BURGERS: (Trust me they taste good.)
GRILLED MARINATED PORTABELLO MUSHROOM BURGERS:
GRILLED PIZZA WITH PESTO, TOMATOES AND FETA:
Some good veg recipes here :
Support groups for going Veg:
Good luck on going veg. Whenever you feel the need to give up, don’t! Keep trying! You’ll find the rewards to yourself, your waistline, your pockets and probably to your relationship for wanting to go veg with your boyfriend, very worth it!

What I did was stopped eating red meat (which is the least healthly meat for you). Then gradually I stopped eating white meat. It makes the transaction a lot easier!
