Do you have to transition a cat from one type of canned food to another?

I know you have to transition a cat to a new dry food, but is it the same for wet foods? The kittens are now eating Nutro Max gourmet canned chicken, and i want to change them to Wellness canned chicken.

It is always a good idea to start giving them the new food a little at a time. Put a little of the new food in with the old food and gradually increase the new food and decrease the old food. That way the kitty will get used to it and you can see if it affects him in any way.

I would transition, just to be on the safe side. Good Luck.

Hi there…most cats don’t experience stomach distress when canned foods are being changed. It’s better to mix the two because many will turn their noses up at it if they are used to another brand. Therefore mixing the two will help them become used to the flavours.
