If that’s happening to your rabbit and if his hair is shedding…
then he should be sent to a vet soon, My rabbit had the same syptoms he is possibly dying.

Your rabbit should be eating a good quality pellet and be fed unlimited amounts of timothy hay daily, as well as some greens. Should you change his food, be sure to do it slowly and watch for digestive upset. Personally, I feed all of my rabbits the Kaytee brand of food that has the timothy hay included and nothing else other than unlimited timothy hay and fresh greens with a small piece of apple or pineapple from time to time, especially if they are going through a heavy moult.

Weight loss is a sign of something – whether it be illness or intestinal blockage and should be treated by a Vet. Because rabbits can go downhill quickly, it is very important for the rabbit to get medical attention at the very sign of illness. For now, try to push the timothy hay, provide fresh water and a small piece of fresh pineapple or papaya to get the digestive system going. Make that appointment to get your rabbit to be seen by a vet ASAP!

PS – grass is not healthy for rabbits. it doesn’t provide any fiber or nutrients that the rabbit needs to stay healthy.

it could be wool block. what do his droppings look like? If they are small and dry looking or strung together with hair it is wool block and you should give him 2cc or 3cc of vegitable oil 3 times a day for 2 or 3 days. You can also give him pineapple and papya or papya tablets to help. Wool block is not very comon with mini rex rabbits because of their short hair but it can still happen expecially around the time they are shedding.

Since your bunny is missing his favourite food, you can add a cheap alternative to his new pellets. Bunnies love Quaker LARGE flake (never instant) oatmeal! Try giving him some of that. Rabbits can go 3 days without food, so make sure you don’t get to day 3!!! When my bunny doesn’t eat, I Grind up some pellets mixed with mashed banana and some water to thin it out. Use a syringe on the side of his mouth and he’ll start eating! Good luck!

try giving your rabbit pinapple juice. he may be clogged up wit fur balls. it worked for my bunny when he stopped eatting.

    Also don’t give your bunny the ‘fancy’ food, just get plain pellets for him (-;

Your rabbit could be suffering from a lot of different things. You should also be keeping an eye on his poo and urine. Is he doing both? Has the size or shape of his poo changed?

    The poo on poop:

A rabbit who refuses to eat is a problem to diagnose without knowing what else is going on with him.

He could have developed tooth spurs which make it difficult for him to chew food:

    He could be starting Stasis:

A rabbit saavy vet is very hard to locate, it’s best to check the internet to see if there are any vets that specialize in exotics, or better yet, call the ones in your area and ask if they treat rabbits. Also you could ask them if they know of someone who treats rabbits.

Another thing you could do is contact a rabbit rescue/shelter in your area and ask them for the name of a vet they use for the rabbits in their care.

If your rabbit refuses to eat pellets and hay, but opts for softer foods, then I would suspect he is having tooth issues. If he cannot eat the proper foods he is not getting the nutrition he needs to survive.

Here is a tried and true recipe for a rabbit that refuses to eat. You can use this Power Shake to feed him until you find a vet that can diagnose the real problem and treat the issue.

To feed the rabbit this Power Shake you will have to hold him and use a large syringe to give it to him.

    Handling and holding your rabbit:

Gently place the tip of the syringe behind his front teeth and gently push the plunger in small amounts and allow him to chew and swallow what you have put in his mouth before you give him more.

This power shake covers a myriad of symptoms from GI Stasis to fur block.

    THE BUNNY POWER SHAKE

    2 tablespoons rabbit pellets
2 tablespoons plain yogurt (no flavoring)
    2 tablespoons Metamucil
    2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
    2 tablespoons pineapple juice
1 can Ensure or Boost – vanilla flavor

Blend all ingredients in a blender with enough water to thin
    for feeding with a syringe.

Administer by syringe – approx. 12cc twice a day for 2-3 days

We use this bunny shake whenever we have a rabbit go off feed and have not had a rabbit yet that did not respond well to it and resume normal eating habits within 2-3 days.

Your rabbit should also always have plenty of hay and pellets available to eat.

My suggestions are not to be taken as gospel, they are intended to help the rabbit survive until you find competent veterinary care.
