Gourmet people: Have you tried these Japanese foods?

JCHEM asked:

Hi I’m a native Japanese guy. I like eating very much.
I have a questions to gourmet people.

Have you guys ever tried even one of these Japanese foods below?
If you have, how was it?
If not, have you ever heard of or seen them?

(1) Namako
(2) Shirako
(3) Hoya
(4) Ankimo
(5) Bakurai
(6) Konowata
(7) Karasumi
(8) Hachinoko
(9) Umibudou
(10) Noresore
(11) Syutou
(12) Zazamushi
(13) Fujitsubo
(14) Kamenote
(15) Kusaya

If you’ve tried two or more and you like it, I think you’re real gourmet for Japanese food.

Thanks!
henry : What are you talking about? This is serious question though they came from just my curiosity. These are all authentic Japanese foods, though maybe you cant believe some stuffs. Just because you don’t know them, doesn’t mean you can say uncomfortable words. It’s just because of your poor experience.

Like the person above me said, thanks for the ride.

O = Tried it before and it is good/acceptable.
X = Tried it before but don’t like it.
H = Have heard of it or know about it.
Y = Would like to try.
N = Would not like to try.
U = Undecided. Might or might not try.
    ? = Something totally new.

    (1) Namako – O, Y [I have never tried the sashimi version before and I would like to try it if given a chance. So far, I like the Chinese versions better. The Korean versions are the least offensive.]
    (2) Shirako – H, N
    (3) Hoya – H, U [I have seen the Korean sashimi version before.]
    (4) Ankimo – O [Excellent stuff! Love it! The salmon equivalent version is pretty nice too.]
    (5) Bakurai – ?, N [Hoya + Konowata? No thank you!]
    (6) Konowata – H, N
    (7) Karasumi – O [Excellent stuff! Love it! I could closely duplicate the taste of karasumi by using: coho salmon! Not kidding too.]
    (8) Hachinoko – ?, NN!
    (9) Umibudou – H, Y
    (10) Noresore – ?, U
    (11) Syutou – ?, U
    (12) Zazamushi – ?, NNN!
    (13) Fujitsubo – ?, U [Those things are edible? I've used barnacles as fishing bait and caught absoluely nothing... LOL]
    (14) Kamenote – O [Didn't know what it was until I searched online. I don't like the taste much and the texture is weird. Never tried the Japanese version though.]
    (15) Kusaya – X

By the way, I find certain items on the list to be a little intimidating (especially that zazamushi!). LOL

I used to live there, in Komaki, near Nagoya. I ate only Japanese food while I was there and never found a single one I didn’t like. I only regret that I had to leave. I make it at home, although, of course, it isn’t nearly as good as it was there. In addition, I liked shabu shabu, okinomiyaki, takoyaki, and many, many more things. There is a special plum sauce from the region that I remember with great fondness, too.

I have never heard of any of those, nor tried any. But I enjoy incorporating Japanese foods into my vegan diet, particularly miso soup, miso as an ingredient in many recipes, and various sea vegetables.
