Why do so many Indian restaurants have pictures of people spinning yarn?

okok asked:

I’ve noticed that art depicting people spinning yarn is a popular theme for decoration in Indian restaurants in my area. Why is that? Is spinning an important theme in Indian culture?

It might have something to do with remembering the Indian Independence movement. Indian leaders encouraged people to spin their own yarn to stick it to the British textile industry.
