Why do I get sick after eating out anywhere?

joshua.partridge asked:

I get nauseous after eating, no matter how much I eat, when I eat out at a restaurant. If I am with anyone and they take longer than me I get dizzy and really sick to my stomach. It doesn’t matter what kind of food it is or environment of the restaurant. At home I am alright and if I get take out as well. Am I completely crazy or is this something that has happened to others?

Sounds like it has become a psychological issue at this point, especially if you can get takeout and be OK. The issue is probably deeper than the food – do you feel uncomfortable just sitting and talking? do you have to eat your food in a certain way that is hard to do in a restaurant? Is it the people around you that bothers you?

My brother had something similar happen to him. It started the same as your symptoms, then eventually got diarrhea often. He lost A LOT of weight, then one day passed out from blood loss (in diarrhea). He ended up in the hospital, and they diagnosed him with Crohn’s disease. It usually shows up in your 20s or 30s.
Of course, this is the only stomach disease I know of, so it’s the one issue that comes to mind. Check out webmd.com. They have a symptom checker that asks specific questions about your symptoms. It may help. If symptoms persist, think about seeing a gastroenterologist.
