Why do fast food restaurants Fries taste different than just cooking them at home?

Why do the restaurants Fries taste so different than just buying pre-made fries and frying them or cutting your own fresh ones. I want to be able to make fries like McDonald’s can anyone help me out? Much appreciated, thank you.
I haven’t eaten from a fast food restaurant since I was nine years old and I am 16 years old now and even then I only ate from those places every nine months if my parents were caught out outside really late.

Go and watch Supersize Me, Morgan Spurlock. You will see the difference with your own eyes and never eat McD’s again.

Fast Food Restaurant Fries taste different then home fries because, for example, lets take McDonalds… I personally don’t like McDonalds but i know how they cook their fries like they do. McDonald’s puts many handfuls of their frozen fries right into a machine called a deep fat frier. A deep fat frier lives up to its name: It fries deeply with fatty oils that are not good for you at all. Usually Home fries are much healthier, and in my opinion, tastier. You can either bake them in the oven or broil them in a nice vegetable oil. Then when they are done, Sprinke with a light coating of salt.
I hope this helped…

Because the grease at fast food is old and the grease you use in your house is fresh.

Fast food fries use ingredients and processes the average home cook doesn’t have access to.
Here’s a recipe that attempts to replicate mcdonald’s fries. It’s probably close, but not exactly the same:

they use commercial grade oil, and it’s used over and over again. at home you will only use the oil once.

It’s really because of the oil and the deep fryer, when we run out of chicken tenders at my rest. we go to krogers and deep fry the frozen ones you put in your oven and they turn out 10000000 times better.
