Biggest Loser: How many calories were they eating? How often and how long were they working out for?
monaya asked:
I’ve never heard of losing 5-15 pounds in one week in a healthy. The show never talks about how many calories contestants were eating or how many times and how long contestants were working out for.
Actually they lost that kind of weight even after they had come around to normal levels.

That’s because the contestants are losing weight in an extrememly unhealthy way. Losing 15 pounds a week, consistently over months is TERRIBLE for your heart, blood pressure and overall functioning of your body. You need to lose weight slowly in order for your bodyily functions to adjust to your new set lifestyle.
They work out probably hours on end, along with the physical challenges, and are eating probably under 2000 calories. They are being very unhealthy, which is why I imagine the details are not revealed.

I think they are getting at least 1500. As for working out im not sure. One of the reasons why they lost so much weight is because they were so heavy. If you notice the ones that were in the lower 200′s did not drop as much weight as the ones in the 300′s. They are also under strict supervision from doctors to monitor their healthy. Dont try to lose that much weight on your own.

True, losing 2-3 pounds a week is the healthiest way to go for a person around an average weight. You have to take into consideration that these people were pretty much morbidly obese. Any kind of calorie deficit or exercise would contribute massively to a rapid weight loss. That’s why you always see people on the cover of magazine claiming that they lost 10 pounds in one week on the all cabbage all the time diet. Anyone that overweight can quickly lose weight and it is healthy.

they exercised for around 6-8 hours a day and ate (depending on their weight/gender) between 1200-2100 calories a day
